2.1 CHANGES IN ISDN RELEASE 6.3 Version 1.5

General Overview

The ISDN release 6 software load combines all of the various ISDN products into one software load.

Software

The Release 6.3 version 1.5 software is shipped on CD ROM and will be labeled for the platform it is intended for.

New PRI cards are shipped with pre-installed software, which includes the boot load, ISDN application and a default IMAT database. New Network Gateways are shipped with pre-installed software but no IMAT database.

Software upgrades for the PRI Cards are performed by connecting a Win95 or 98 personal computer running Dial-Up Networking 1.3 to the PRI Card Interface Assembly serial port and transferring files in the PRI_Install folder on the CD using the IMAT software upgrade program.

6. INSTALLATION AND UPGRADE NOTES

6.1 NEW INSTALLATION Release 6.2 Version 1.11 or later

Refer to the appropriate section of the CD-ROM Documentation for detailed information.

  IMPORTANT When Upgrading

Follow this order

When upgrading from a release earlier than 6, it is strongly suggested that you follow these steps.

  1. Upgrade the IMAT software using the included CD
  2. IMPORTANT the directory structure for IMAT has changed. When upgrading IMAT the old IMAT under C:\ Mitel is renamed to "Old IMAT" and a new directory is created under C:\Program Files\Mitel. This will result in your shortcuts no longer pointing to IMAT.
  3. Delete the old shortcuts and creat a new one.
  4. Load the PRI database from the PRI card using the IMAT software.
  5. Save the PRI card's database to your local hard drive using the IMAT software.
  6. Load the database in the IMAT program from your local hard drive (the database saved to the local hard disk)
  7. Save the Database to the PRI card and select R6 (release 6) when asked to select a database version.
  8. After this is completed DO NOT reset the card. Go to the next step.
  9. Then upgrade the PRI card software from the computer CDrom or directory where the new software resides by selecting the PRI_Install folder.
  10. When the database and software upgrade are complete reset the card.

NOTE: It is very important to follow the above order. This will prevent serious complication such as constant resets. If this occurs, contact technical support.
